Abilities Unlimited has been Hawaii's leader in community-based services for individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment since 1983. Abilities Unlimited is committed to helping people with disabilities claim their birthright as full and equal partners in the community.
Abilities Unlimited fulfills the important mission of "assisting individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential." The mission is realized through a comprehensive program of employment and job retention services, training, and provision and coordination of community based services and supports. Abilities Unlimited was the first agency to provide community based supported employment services in Hawaii, and remains the only agency to provide exclusively community based services. Programs are designed to help people get and retain jobs through pre-employment training, on-the-job coaching, and a wide variety of other supports necessary for individuals to be successful, productive employees.
Abilities Unlimited also works with schools in Hawaii to develop vocational interest and employment skills for students with disabilities through its Medicaid Waiver and transition program in partnership with DVR, Medicaid Waiver and DOE.
Additionally, Abilities Unlimited provides a variety of services to support local businesses in employing individuals with disabilities. Job coaches help managers and co-workers effectively supervise and collaborate with employees with disabilities.
